Ropes Course Facilitator
CHALLENGE LEARNING CENTER, a non-profit organization based in Palo Alto, CA is looking for Ropes Course Facilitators to work on an "as needed" basis.
Organization Overview
The Challenge Learning Center (CLC) designs and conducts team building and high ropes programs for middle and high school students throughout the Bay Area. Our programs are designed to foster teamwork and communication skills. We also strive to develop a respect for differences in ideas and backgrounds among classmates/colleagues. We aim to provide both collective and individual challenges to our participants. Finally, we always try to make our programs fun for both the participants and ourselves!
Position Overview
We are seeking people interested in becoming part-time facilitators for our programs. Our facilitators lead both our team-building initiatives as well as our high ropes programs. Specifically, facilitators lay out both safety guidelines and rules for the initiatives. They observe and oversee the participants as they plan and carry out the activities. Finally, facilitators lead the post-activity discussions where participants speak about what they just experienced.
We are looking for people who enjoy interacting with young people. We look for leadership skills, enthusiasm and a sense of humor. This is a part-time, paid position. Hours are very flexible and facilitators work on an “as needed" basis. Spanish fluency is a plus. People from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Enjoy interacting with young people and making a difference in their lives
- Are familiar with experiential learning theories and techniques
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm and energy
- Ability to interact with diverse populations with sensitivity
- Previous ropes course experience preferred
- Reliability
- Team player who is willing to take and give feedback, who loves to learn and grow and help others become more self-aware and empowered
- Must be at least 18 years of age
